The University of South Carolina Gamecocks will return to the Joe to face the College of Charleston Cougars on March 6th. The Gamecocks lost last night to the Citadel Bulldogs after the Dogs came back to win 7-6. Hopefully, the Cougars can keep the Cocks winless at the Joe for the season. (Baseball season ticket holders will be able to use their tickets for this game.)

The Cougar Club will be having a cook-out for all Cougar Fans at Murray’s Mezzanine (located underneath the white tent down the first base line). The event will start half an hour prior to game time. The cost is $10 per person. Call and pay today for the cook-out by calling Davin Wise at (843) 953-5472.

The Sharks are swimming for Spurrier

Last week it was Miami (Fl) offering a job to Coach Spurrier and now this week the Tide are offering Spurrier a $39 million paycheck with no cuts over 10 years to rebuild the program that Bear built.

We're going to need a bigger boat!

As I said before Spurrier isn't going to leave. I would look for a renegotiation of his contract but not by much because money isn't Spurrier's motivation. When he took the job at Carolina he told the President and Athletic Director that he'd sign for less as long as they put the excess money towards the Women's Programs. I would highly doubt that he would leave for the money.

Spurrier wants to leave his own legacy at Carolina. For him to pull up stakes and move to Bama to live in Bear Bryant's shadow would be a huge surprise to me.

Clemson vs Carolina

I know that Coach Spurrier had all of the beat Clemson signs taken down around Williams-Brice and he mentioned in the Post & Courier (11/22/2006) that this game is just like any other game, and (that) "we should try to win them all". But Bobby Bowden anticipates a different story for the "most exciting 2-minutes of football" (when the Tigers take the field) as he said, "That's not his M.O. (to wait until Clemson takes the field) he might be on buses behind us."

Either way, Coach Spurrier lost a close game to Clemson last year, and this year will probably be just as close.

Coach Spurrier is a competitor and being 0-1 against a Bowden is not (to steal line from Coach Bowden) his M.O. Coach Spurrier might just think this is another game, but I think that is just what he tells the Press. Spurrier is ready for his first (of many) win against Clemson. It will be close, but without a kicking game, Clemson will probably come up short against Carolina. Go Cocks!
