Sitting in at the last regular season Bobby Cremins Show

I stopped by George's Sports Bar tonight for the last regular season Coach Bobby Cremins Show. Coach was joined by the "voice of the Cougar Sports" Tony Ciuffo for the last time this season to talk about the upcoming game against the Citadel tomorrow night and Saturday's game against Georgia Southern. Coach knows that both teams will be prepared for the Cougars and is still making the guys take one game at a time.

But FYI for the Maroon Nation, the Cougars will get the 5th-seed for the SoCon Tournament at the North-Charleston Coliseum, playing next Thursday at 9:30 pm. Tony reminded everyone to give Josh Bryson at the Cougars ticket office a call for tickets so you can sit with other members of the Maroon Nation behind the bench. Coach seemed stoked about our chances in the SoCon Tournament, stating, "Everyone expects a Davidson vs. App. State final, but that just might not be the case."

As you all know, Coach Cremins is always recruiting whenever the NCAA allows it. Although Coach Cremins is not permitted to talk about who we have in regards to signing for next year, (sorry Coach to drop the ball on mentioning Andrew) he did mention that this will be an important recruiting class and that he plans on signing 6-players for next year. As Coach said, "We missed out on an entire recruiting class last year, and that makes this year so important."

Coach Cremins did ask that everyone arrive early for tomorrow night's game against the Citadel because it is Senior Night, and the guys: David, Dontaye, Phillip, and Renardo will be recognized immediately after the National Anthem. Recognition they truly deserve.

Assistant Coach Mark Byington handled the BCS this week!

Blackie and I took in the Bobby Cremins Show tonight since we were both without Valentine's Day Sweethearts. (I know, woe is me oh chilren of Charleston.) Coach Cremins was snowed-in while on a recruiting trip this week, so Asst. Coach Mark Byington filled in for Coach this week. Our old friend from the Dawg Pound, Everett German joined him at the Sports Desk at George's for Valentine's Day.

Coach Byington did a great job filling in for Coach Cremins. We did have a chat afterwards because of his remarks about going in to the paint when the parameter shot wasn't falling, because we all know, that wasn't the case during the Davidson game. Coach Byington did give us good news about Marcus and also some of the recruiting he and Coach Cremins are doing in the South East. I am not going into specifics because I don't want the competition to smell blood and start circling like sharks. But I will say this, if you are a young recruit with D-1 talent outside of Charlotte or Atlanta, you should put the College of Charleston high on your list.

Sure you can go to solid programs such as Davidson, but if you have a bad day, there isn't a King Street to stroll down and check out the bevy of female talent like Charleston has, nor is there a close proximity to the beaches. And let us not forget the competitive advantages a College of Charleston degree gives you in today's market place. As well as the exposure you will get on the CofC Sports Fan (from yours truly) and the support you get from one of the most informed, loyal fan bases of those wearing Maroon! If you have what it takes, by all means, come for a visit and if you make the cut, you can not play for a legend, but you can have the chance to become one as well.

We win the Pearlstine Ball!

This is a photo that I took of Craig winning the trivia question at last night's Bobby Cremins' Show! (I gave him the answer, so I got to keep the ball-thanks Buddy!) The question was, "Who is Dontaye Draper trailing for 17th on the All-Time CofC Scoring List?" I jumped up and answered Jermel President because I thought Dontaye still trailed Jermel. But after getting it wrong and then hearing the entire question, that the former Cougar scored 1, 204 points during their career, I knew that it was Mike Beckett. How did I know that Tony would ask a question about the All-Time list this week? Just a gut feeling and a hunch because Dontaye is back on his game since we last met.
Pulling Craig away from the UNC blowout of Florida Atlantic was another story. It went something like this: "Pay attention Craig, Mike Beckett! No, Tony is not going to ask you for your Cougar lineage, just get up there and answer the question." Craig responded, "But...But..." But we College of Charleston Men spend 4-years (sometimes more) cutting out teeth by smooth talking the hottest women this side of the mighty Mississipp, so charming the pants of a dyed-in the wool Tarheel was not a problem. Craig got up, answered correctly and the rest is history-compliments of Pearlstine Distributors Inc, Jim 'N Nick's BBQ, George's Sports Bar and Coach Bobby Cremins!

Bobby Cremins Show

I went to the first Bobby Cremins Show to meet the coach and to listen to his game-plan for this year's season. I dragged Craig to George's Sports Bar for the show and I was deeply impressed with Coach Cremins and his plans for the strenghtening the Cougars this year! Tony Ciuffo EMCs the show and keeps the Coach fed. (Coach Cremins unknowingly ate Tony's sandwich.)
The show takes questions from the crowd and from callers as it is broadcasted live via ESPn Radio-910 AM from 7-8 pm. The next show is on November 22 and then the following Wednesday after the CofC v Kentucky game.
